Layout

The cuts are planned before the first one.

Where the pattern starts decides where the cuts land. We dry-lay and mark the layout so slivers end up in corners, not across the middle of the wall, and veining on large tiles flows from one piece to the next.

  • Dry layout before setting
  • Centered patterns, cuts in the corners
  • Veining matched across large tiles

Patterns & accents

Herringbone, hex, and the bold ones.

Herringbone floors with a border. A green herringbone shower wall. A geometric accent wall behind a navy vanity. Patterns take longer to set and every crooked line shows, so they get the time.

Florida conditions

Built for the humidity it lives in.

Slab floors, salt air near the water, showers that run twice a day. Setting materials and grout get matched to where the tile goes: a shower floor, a sunlit living room and a lanai don't get the same answer.

  • Flat substrate before large tiles
  • Grout chosen for the room
  • Movement joints where slabs need them

Shower walls · Floors

Good for
Shower walls and bathroom floors. All the drama of veined marble, in a porcelain that needs no sealing in Florida humidity.
Watch out for
Bold veining needs the tiles laid out dry first, so the lines flow. Ask to see the layout before it goes on the wall.

Working with Top Design Tile for our new‑construction home was one of the best decisions we made. They handled all of our flooring and bathroom tile work, and the results are truly beyond anything we imagined. Our design vision was brought to life so beautifully, especially the herringbone wood‑look tile with a brass border in the main living area. It’s the first thing people notice when they walk in, and it completely transformed the feel of the home and really elevates the space. The craftsmanship throughout the bathrooms is just as impressive. The mitered joints are flawless, the floating shower bench looks incredible, and the infinity niche in the spare bathroom was a design idea we’re so grateful they suggested. Every detail was done with precision, and you can tell Pedro and his team really take pride in their work. Communication throughout the entire process was amazing. We always felt heard, our input was respected, and we appreciated receiving picture updates along the way. He made a very stressful part of the build stress-free for us, and we really appreciate that. We are ecstatic with how everything turned out and would recommend Top Design Tile to anyone looking for high‑quality, thoughtful, and detail‑driven tile work!

Porcelain or natural stone?

Porcelain is dense, needs no sealing and comes in convincing marble and stone looks. Natural stone, like marble or travertine, is one of a kind and needs sealing and gentler cleaners. Pick porcelain for easy upkeep, stone if you want the real thing.

Can you tile over my existing tile?

Sometimes, on a sound floor with no hollow spots, but it raises the floor height at every doorway. In showers it comes down to the studs so the waterproofing is new.

Why does large-format tile cost more to install?

Big tiles show every dip in the floor, so the substrate has to be flattened first, and each piece is heavier and harder to set. That prep is most of the job.

Do you supply the tile or do I?

Either works. We source it as part of the job or install tile you've bought, and quantities and lot numbers get checked before anything is set.
