Hobe Sound is unincorporated Martin County, so the county issues permits. Jupiter Island homes share the Hobe Sound address but run their own permitting, so we confirm which one applies before the paperwork starts.

Club communities here have gate and work-hour rules, and Florida law keeps them out of interior design decisions. What goes on the walls is up to you.

A 1920s plan to rename it Picture City and build a film colony collapsed after the 1928 hurricane, and the name never stuck. Today Hobe Sound is a mix of older homes near the downtown corridor and private golf and marina clubs like Lost Lake, Loblolly and Heritage Ridge.

Florida Statute 720.3035 bars HOAs from limiting interior changes that can't be seen from outside. Gate access and contractor rules still apply.
