A 1920s plan to rename it Picture City and build a film colony collapsed after the 1928 hurricane, and the name never stuck. Today Hobe Sound is a mix of older homes near the downtown corridor and private golf and marina clubs like Lost Lake, Loblolly and Heritage Ridge.

Hobe Sound is unincorporated, so Martin County issues permits. Jupiter Island homes use Hobe Sound addresses, but the Town of Jupiter Island runs its own permitting.

Does my club's HOA have to approve an interior bath remodel?

Florida Statute 720.3035 bars HOAs from limiting interior changes that can't be seen from outside. Gate access and contractor rules still apply.
